The Future Starts Here: Major Funding Fuels our Next Big Leap

With thanks to a transformative grant from The National Lottery Community Fund, Blossom LGBT has is about to embark on an exciting new mission that'll enhance and increase our support for LGBT+ young adults by 2030.

Blossom LGBT is proud to announce a landmark grant of ÂŁ499,968.00 from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, to continue to grow and enhance our work over the next five years. This transformational investment will enable Blossom LGBT to significantly expand our services, deepen our impact, and reach more LGBT+ young adults and communities across Surrey and beyond.

This funding marks one of the most significant moments in Blossom LGBT’s history and will underpin the organisation’s new long-term strategy, focused on empowerment, upskilling, and systemic change. By 2030, Blossom LGBT will deliver a range of ambitious initiatives, including:

  • Launching over 250 free mentoring opportunities for LGBT+ people under 30, supporting personal and professional development.
  • Establishing at least three new in-person drop-in hubs across the Surrey borders, expanding access to safe and supportive spaces.
  • Enhancing existing programmes by extending session lengths, increasing their focus and impact, and welcoming at least 750 participants.
  • Creating a dedicated digital resource hub to support young LGBT+ job seekers with tools, guidance, and career opportunities.
  • Developing new services for employers to address systemic barriers affecting LGBT+ recruitment, inclusion, and retention in the workplace.

“This funding represents a truly transformative moment in Blossom’s journey,” says Oscar Hoyle, CEO of Blossom LGBT. “It will allow us not only to grow our services but to position Blossom as a true community platform – by centring the voices of LGBTQIA+ young adults and what it means during this crucial transitional period between childhood and adulthood.  This positions Blossom as a true leader for Gen Z LGBT+ communities, and soon Gen Alpha – those who are shaping the future but too often left without the resources and opportunities they deserve. With this support, we will change lives, open doors, and ensure that every young LGBT+ person can step into their future with confidence, pride, and purpose.”

At Blossom LGBT, we will soon unveil a comprehensive new strategy, featuring a range of pilot projects, innovative programmes, and community-led activities designed to further strengthen support for LGBT+ individuals across the region.
