Nine in ten of the LGBTQ+ young people we surveyed who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) worry about how their identity will be treated when they apply for a job.
Drawing on a survey of 55 young people and in-depth conversations with 17 young people, our research shows how bullying, misgendering, family rejection, money worries and discrimination can build into what one young person called “a very big spider web of cause and effect”. It also shows what helps: stability, a practical route forward, and opportunities where young people feel safe and understood.
The question isn’t how to get young people into any job. It’s what would help them find, and stay in, education, training or work that’s right for them.
Let Everyone Blossom sets out how we can get there, together.

On the 23rd of September 2026, we launched our ground-breaking report on LGBT+ NEETs. This event, hosted with AMS, presented key findings on the systemic and interpersonal barriers affecting a generation of LGBT+ young people who are not in education, employment, or training. Without urgent support, these individuals face the risk of long-term unemployment.
This launch aimed to raise awareness and encourage action to address these critical challenges. We looked at how workplaces, employers, and government support need to come together to shape a future for LGBTQIA+ young adults that will ensure they have the resources they need to thrive.
