Since the inception of the contemporary LGBTQIA+ movement, educational institutions have continually faced scrutiny regarding their treatment of LGBTQIA+ students & staff. This scrutiny has manifested in various forms, including legislative measures prohibiting support for queer students, the implementation of mandatory LGBTQIA+ Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), and persistent pressures from both anti and pro-LGBT campaigns. The educational landscape has become complex, with 2023 witnessing the introduction of some of the most anti-LGBT non-statutory guidance from the government since the enactment of section 28. In the midst of the cultural conflicts that schools find themselves entangled in, the focus on what truly matters – the well-being of both staff and students – can become lost.
To address this challenge, we present ‘Blossom in Education,’ a comprehensive program crafted to prioritise the well-being of LGBTQIA+ students and teachers. This initiative aims to assist schools in understanding their legislative requirements, fostering inclusive school communities, and providing education to both students and staff on LGBTQIA+ matters.
Here’s just a few names that we’ve already provided lgbt inclusion support to.
Only 20% of LGBTQ+ students currently studying within the UK’s education sector would feel comfortable talking about their LGBTQ+ identity with a member of staff. We collaborate with LGBTQ+ young adults who access our services to shape our LGBTQ+ inclusion training that creates Gen-Z ready cultures. We provide training that is informative, relevant, and engaging for schools, colleges, and universities. Our goal is to provide you with the most up-to-date and informed information through our training, so you can create environments that are inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ+ students and staff.
