We also do direct work with students too! Our training is perfect for anyone, regardless of prior knowledge or experience with the LGBTQ+ community. Education Sector: Let's get learning!

Only 20% of LGBTQ+ students currently studying within the UK’s education sector would feel comfortable talking about their LGBTQ+ identity with a member of staff. We collaborate with LGBTQ+ young adults who access our services to shape our LGBTQ+ inclusion training that creates Gen-Z ready cultures. We provide training that is informative, relevant, and engaging for schools, colleges, and universities. Our goal is to provide you with the most up-to-date and informed information through our training, so you can create environments that are inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ+ students and staff.

 

 

Importantly, we also reinvest the profits generated from our training into supporting our community, providing resources and support that LGBTQ+ individuals need to thrive both in and out of the workplace.

LGBT SUPPORT

Creating a environment within the education sector that values and supports LGBTQ+ individuals isn’t just a nice thing to do – it’s a fundamental responsibility that lets everyone thrive. No one should have to feel unwelcome or unsupported in their workplace or place of study which is why we provide subsidised inclusion support based on the size of the organisation you work within. Creating an inclusive culture is not just about changing a values on a superficial level, it requires active effort in educating and empowering staff members to build the skills needed to create a culture of true diversity and inclusion. By investing in upskilling staff members on the nuances of LGBTQ+ inclusion, and through creating and embedding inclusive policies, you can foster an environment where everyone can bring their full selves to learning & teaching and where all employees feel valued for who they truly are. Together, we can create a more accepting and supportive workplace culture that benefits everyone.

Whilst we also offer the individual training detailed below, we believe annual partnerships are the strongest way to embed an inclusive culture where students and staff alike can thrive. Our annual packages include:
  • Support for pastoral staff to support LGBTQ+ students. 
  • Ongoing support around embedding staff & student facing LGBTQ+ inclusive processes, policies, and initiatives.
  • ‘Off Timetable’ classes around LGBT issues.
  • Half day staff training.

We know one of the biggest barriers for people engaging with the LGBTQ+ community is a lack of baseline knowledge around the community. In this session we’ll explore what the LGBTQ+ community is, the terms you’ll often hear, and the current outlook for LGBTQ+ people. 

 

This session is designed for people who are a total newbie to the world of LGBTQ+ people and would like to build a solid base line understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.

 

Up to 50 attendees delivered via google meets.

 

SESSION GOALS

  1. Leave understanding the language within the LGBTQ+ community.
  2. Understand the differences between gender identity & sexual orientation.
  3. Build compassion to LGBTQ+ people

TRAINING AGENDA

  • Common LGBTQ+ Language
  • Understanding different LGBTQ+ identities
  • the difference between gender identity and sexuality.
  • LGBTQ+ Experiences

Gender identity refers to the way we describe the gender someone has. In this session we’ll explore what that means, the terms you’ll often hear, the current outlook for trans people, and start to look at the experiences of people who identify as trans and non-binary.

This session is designed for people who are considered ‘newbies’ to LGBTQ+ inclusion and would like to know the very basics about gender identity.

Up to 50 attendees delivered via google meets.

60 minute session including Q&A.

SESSION GOALS

  1. All attendees leave understanding basic terminology
  2. All attendees understand what gender dysphoria is and how to support a student who has it.

TRAINING AGENDA

  • Explaining terminology.
  • The difference between gender identity, gender expression, and biological sex.
  • Experiences of people with diverse gender identities.
  • Ways to support trans students. 

Perhaps one of the toughest times in a students personal life could be the decision to come out. We discuss how to be receptive to a student who comes out to you, the risk associated with them coming out to others, and how to support them through the process. 

 

This session is designed for people who understand the basics of the LGBTQ+ community but feel a little bit out of touch with the modern day language & terminology being used

  2. Learners understand how to support young people who come out.

Let’s inspire your students to stand up for the ethical good and explore what it means to really create change! 

This workshop is designed to look at the activists of yesterday, and today, in order to inspire the activists of tomorrow. 

Agenda:

  • The ACT UP Movement
  • Lesbians Abseil into Parliament
  • Modern day change makers
  • What can you do every single day to make change?

Let us take over your art class and run a workshop based off of LGBTQ+ artists! Queer artists have been visionary pioneers who continue to push boundaries in all disciplines, and their influence extends into mainstream culture. Keith Haring, Claude Cahun, and even RuPaul have inspired the world of Modern Arts. 

 

We’ll give students a breif overview of an artist of choosing before exploring their work and techniques and then setting them off to create their own piece of art. During the session we’ll also explore how the artists LGBTQ+ identity influenced their art. 

We’ll work with students to explore the fascinating local, national, and global history of the LGBTQ+ community. 

 

We’ll touch on the lost history of the LGBTQ+ community through colonisation, wars, and legislative barriers. 

 

We’ll also look at famous LGBTQ+ figures who students might be surprised to learn the existence of!
