Fancy joining us for an LGBTQ+ performing artist workshop?! Each event is completely free to attend and includes all of the resources and knowledge you’ll need! The event is open to LGBTQ+ people aged from 16 and upwards. We can welcome a limited number of under 16’s if they bring along an adult.
Performing arts is proven to build confidence and improve general wellbeing. We combine this exciting art form with a focus on cultivating a safe place for you to explore your creativity and queerness.
If you are interested in anything stage or screen, this space is for you. Each workshop has a mix of games, chatting through scrips or films, writing and performing. There’s never any pressure to perform so don’t let stage fright put you off! But for those who are seasoned performers this is a great place to workshop a monologue or for emerging writers to get first impressions on a new script.

In previous workshops we’ve focused on writing queer stories, poetry, exploring Black queer film, and rewriting heteronormative content into something LGBTQ+! For some workshops, we will welcome an LGBTQ+ artist to come along and demonstrate their performance skills, and then support you to have a go! So that you can rest assured that you’ll have the best time, we work with the artists to develop the workshop plans and support them to make sure everyone can get involved in the activities provided.
These workshops form part of our LGBTQ+ expression series which encourage you to explore your queer identity and the vibrant community you are part of.
Perhaps acting as a moody queer teen, a story about LGBTQ+ love, or exploring gender through body language and movement! You can use the art and education to explore you in whatever way you’d like.
Most importantly; We welcome all abilities, all levels, and all kinds of creativity!
These workshops will be facilitated by Sofia Kotlarz, a queer performance artist who is passionate about aiding others creative expression and chatting about all things stage and screen and supported by Blossom LGBT CIC. They love facilitating creative workshops and gained training at the Roundhouse, London. Sofia has also volunteered with Blossom in our social spaces for a number of years so knows how to create supportive, fun, and engaging environments within the workshops. We think you'll love them!
